Vol. 1 No. 2 (2024): Besari: Journal of Social and Cultural Studies

Besari: Journal of Social and Cultural Studies (ISSN 3047-2458) is a peer-reviewed open-access scholarly journal published biannually (June and December) by PC Ikatan Sarjana Nahdlatul Ulama (ISNU) Ponorogo, Indonesia, that seeks to facilitate a critical and constructive dialogue among scholars from all research disciplines, especially in social and cultural fields.

In this issue (Vol. 1 No. 2, June 2024), this journal publishes five scholarly articles exploring diverse socio-cultural, historical, and religious dynamics. The topics include traditional ecological wisdom for the resilience of indigenous communities in Indonesia, cultural approaches to religious and national moderation rooted in Wali Songo's legacy, the evolving cinematic depiction of Javanese women from kanca wingking to cosmic balance, transgender self-construction in the post-COVID-19 environment, and an architectural analysis of 18th-century pesantren mosques in Madiun and Ponorogo. Authors contributing to this issue are from Indonesia.
