    Not only being named after the most prominent cleric of Ponorogo, Kiai Ageng Muhammad Besari, the besari also derives from basyari (ar: humanist); therefore, this journal is established to interrogate and scrutinize as well as support what human means and plays roles as a social and cultural being, beyond geographical, communal, or disciplinary boundaries. 

    This journal is published biannually by PC ISNU (Ikatan Sarjana Nahdlatul Ulama) Kab. Ponorogo, Indonesia.
