Vol. 1 No. 1 (2023): Besari: Journal of Social and Cultural Studies
Besari: Journal of Social and Cultural Studies (ISSN 3047-2458) is a peer-reviewed open-access scholarly journal published biannually (June and December) by PC Ikatan Sarjana Nahdlatul Ulama (ISNU) Ponorogo, Indonesia, that seeks to facilitate a critical and constructive dialogue among scholars from all research disciplines, especially in social and cultural fields.
In this inaugural issue (Vol. 1 No. 1, Dec 2023), this journal publishes five scholarly articles exploring historical, religious, and literary dynamics, with a strong focus on Tegalsarian heritage and regional Islamization in Nusantara. The topics include an introductory note on humanity and the Tegalsarian network, lessons from the traditions of the Sayyids and Wali Songo in Nusantara, religious nationalism and leadership imagination in the historical manuscript of Kyai Ageng Tegalsari, the historiography of Islamization in Ponorogo from Ki Ageng Mirah to Pesantren Gebang Tinatar Tegalsari, and translation techniques for personification in Muṣṭafā Luṭfī Al-Manfalūṭī's novel Fī Sabīli al-Tāj. Authors contributing to this issue are from Indonesia.
